When you're pursuing a big goal, sometimes you have to make short-term sacrifices that feel extreme. If you want to lose weight, you have to cut back on what you eat. If you want to get out of debt, you have to give up some things you truly enjoy, such as dining out or cable television. But here's the thing. Those sacrifices are temporary. They're not forever. You're not giving up cookies for the rest of your life. You're not giving up cable television for the rest of your life. You're simply making short-term sacrifices in order to achieve a bigger aim. Once you meet your goal, you can resubscribe to cable. You can eat cookies again. Don't talk yourself out of achieving something big just because you're afraid (or unwilling) to give up something smaller for a little while!
