In recent years, most of my money woes have come from big things like buying a house that needs massive repairs. I feel like my spending on small stuff hasn't been too out of control.
That said, I know that I buy stuff I don't need. And I know that I own plenty of books that I've never read, movies I've never watched, and clothes that I rarely wear.
I've decided that I'd like to participate in a spending moratorium. Some people do "buy nothing" or "spend nothing" years. I'm not sure I want to go that far, but I do know that I want to establish some ground rules, to commit to NOT buying new crap for a few months (or longer). During this spending moratorium, I want to make use of the things that I already own but have not been using.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions on the rules I should set for myself, I'd love to hear them.
